As tiny, power-efficient Bluetooth radio transmitters, beacons can track valuable data of customer engagement in a physical retail environment, making improved metrics for sales flow possible. A beacon network passively broadcasts to cell phones that have brand loyalty applications installed, connecting customer to location to determine specific products or displays that attract consumers. These can also be used to immediately provide promotions or coupons when used with a companion loyalty mobile application.
